Maui Island offers glamour, beaches and pure relaxation. Here you'll find lots of large resorts, manicured golf courses, fine dining, charming towns and a great many sightseeing opportunities.

Maui is the second most visited and developed island in Hawaii and epitomises everything American - fast cars, fast food chains, lots of American tourists and almost everything you read about it claims Maui to be the best. Although true in many areas, its sheer arrogance and popularity result in over-commercialism and lack of charm. Maui certainly is the best place to visit for whale watching and the island is home to the grandest most opulent resorts and golf courses in Hawaii beckoning the rich and famous. Hard selling salesmen have also made Maui the favourite second home for Americans with the largest concentration of condominium blocks in the State.

There are two airports - Kahului on the north coast receives by far the most traffic with well over 100 flights a day from Honolulu and also receives some flights direct from mainland USA. Kapalua-West Maui airport receives a dozen or so flights a day from Honolulu. Maui is a great place to hire a car - there are lots of great scenic drives to get you away from the crowds, including the famous winding road to Hana.

Our guide is full of pictures and maps to give you a clear impression of the region. We also provide useful links throughout our text so you can find out more about tours and accommodation and make reservations.
